Global Industry Statement in Support of a New Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework
7 April – Today FEDMA signed a multi-industry statement, joining 30 associations in calling for the EU and the US to swiftly finalize the new Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework.
Cross-border access to data is critical to enhancing living standards by supporting knowledge, technological tools, and new business opportunities across every region and in every sector – from agriculture to manufacturing and from healthcare to tourism.
The EU-US trading relationship supports 8 million jobs and accounts for 42% of world trade. Losing even a fraction of this economic opportunity translates into a significant impact for EU enterprises, workers, consumers, and citizens.
Implementing a new Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework will be a critical step toward enabling trusted transatlantic data flows, safeguarding privacy and civil liberties.
