FEDMA @ 2024 IAPP Data Protection Congress with a focus on AdTech, Privacy, DSA & Political Advertising
FEDMA (Federation of European Data and Marketing) is proud to announce its participation in two key sessions at the 2024 IAPP Data Protection Congress in Brussels. This annual congress is one of the most significant events in the field of privacy and data protection, bringing together global experts to discuss emerging trends, legal frameworks, and best practices.
Workshop on Tuesday 19 November - AdTech & Privacy: Prospects & Pitfalls
This workshop on AdTech and Privacy is spearheaded by Privacy expert and Acxiom's Europe Privacy Officer, Dr. Sachiko Scheuing. This half-day intensive workshop will provide an AdTech industry overview and examine the complexities of evolving AdTech regulation and enforcement. Participants will be led through a discussion that covers the intricacies of real-time bidding, cookies and other data collection mechanisms, such as location, mobile etc. FEDMA will provide insights into balancing innovation in advertising technologies while respecting consumer privacy rights in a GDPR-compliant manner. The discussion will explore how marketers can navigate the complexities of targeted advertising in an evolving regulatory landscape, while upholding best practices for data protection.
Panel Discussion, Wednesday 20 November - DSA & Political Advertising: Connecting the dots towards a privacy-centric future
FEDMA will also moderate a panel discussion organized by the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) on the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Political Advertising. With the DSA introducing stricter rules for online platforms, including transparency obligations around political ads, this panel will delve into the law’s impact on digital marketing and political communications. FEDMA will bring forward its expertise in ensuring data-driven marketing aligns with both DSA requirements and the evolving landscape of political advertising in Europe. The panelists will take a closer look at the role of industry standards and best practices, and explore their implications in this new context, where political and commercial lines too often get mistakenly blurred. This debate could not be more timely, as by the end of 2024, one-third of the world will have held elections. This engaging session will provide insights on how companies are aligning with the DSA in practice, assess the implications of political advertising, and examine how advertising can balance the interests of all key stakeholders, while respecting privacy and building consumer trust.
